Your Career Australia
Care Professionals.
“I’ve worked with care professionals from across the UK and Ireland who were brilliant at their jobs and completely undervalued. Australia sees them differently — and pays them accordingly.” — Jane Donnelly, Founder, Axia Bridge
Australia needs care workers. Your experience is exactly what they're looking for.
Australia is ageing faster than its care workforce can keep up. The result is sustained, structural demand for carers and support workers and a migration system built to bring the right people in from overseas.
UK and Irish trained care professionals are especially well regarded. The standards translate. The experience counts. And the pathway to working in Australia is clearer than most people assume.
Not sure this is your first step? If you're under 35, a Working Holiday visa may suit you better. We'll help you work out which route fits before you commit to anything.
Is this for you?
If you've worked in any of the following, you're likely in a strong position:
- Residential or domiciliary care
- Aged care or dementia support
- Disability or mental health support work
- Personal care or community care
No formal qualification? The ACILA work-experience route may still be open to you. We'll find the right fit for your situation.
Pay and the life around it
These figures are indicative only:
City roles: AUD $55,000 – $80,000
Regional roles: AUD $50,000 – $65,000
On top of salary, all employees receive superannuation — Australia's employer pension contribution, currently 12%. Many care roles also include salary packaging, a tax-free benefit worth up to AUD $15,900 a year that is unique to the care sector in Australia. Penalty rates for evenings and weekends, and relocation support in some cases. The working culture is different in ways most carers welcome. Clearer shift boundaries. Better staff-to-resident ratios. A profession treated like a profession.
Your skills assessment
Your assessing authority depends on your specific role:
- Nursing Support Worker or Personal Care Assistant — assessed by ANMAC
- Aged or Disabled Carer — assessed by ACWA
UK Level 2 and 3 Diplomas in Health and Social Care, and Irish QQI Level 5, are widely accepted as meeting the Australian standard.
No formal qualification? The ACILA work-experience route may still be available. We'll check before you spend anything.
The authority fee is paid directly to them — never to us. And only once you have a job offer in hand.
